People underestimate the importance of a well balanced diet. I know that during the time I spent on the skinny bitch project, I did and as we all know, my health took a serious hit for it. All I have to say is that whoever came up with the idea that fruits and vegetables are bad for you is an idiot and I consider myself an idiot for going along with it.
For the past few weeks I’ve been eating my veggies and I feel rejuvenated. I have not lost weight like I had hoped, but I feel like a million bucks. This is something I wish for everyone.
Today I spent the afternoon volunteering with my friends at Farm Fresh Miami, the veggie club I’ve belonged to for the past year. It was great though I would be lying if I didn’t say that the whole time I was there, I was dying to come home to sort through my produce.
I’ve been home for an hour and I have already made a liter of Hugh’s favorite juice (carrot, beet, apple, ginger, kiwi and strawberries), placed all my “delicates” in the godsend I call Ziploc Vegetable bags, and started researching delicious dishes I can make with boniato and sapodilla (though I will probably be recruiting Chef Pandita to share her infinite food wisdom with me).
It has really been a great day!
Actually, it has been a great week. I have been talking to some of my favorite event planners to help us plan for Valentine’s Day. Normally, I would completely disregard the holiday but I guess that’s easier to do when one is not in love. And not only am I in love, it’s finally hit me that I’m probably not the only one 🙂 I will be posting their ideas in the upcoming days.
I will also be joining the team at Soul of Miami as a contributor starting very soon. Needless to say, I am thrilled to be regularly sharing the things I love about Miami with their readers in the same way I do here. Although my original intent was to focus on Annush on the Causeway, having seen the reach of “Live Better?” after it was picked up by Open Media Miami and Beached Miami and how it has helped the movement behind #NoWalmartInMidtown, it only makes sense that a blog about my life in this community extend outside of this URL.
The next few weeks also promise to be very exciting for me. Not only will I get to experience Social Media Week, which I didn’t think I would, I will be getting ready for my upcoming trip to Texas, a place I’ve never been.
I will be visiting Hugh’s hometown of Marfa, and will be attending SXSW, where I will finally be seeing Frank Warren of Postsecret in the flesh, as well all the social media people who validate my geekiness every day. If you can recommend things to do or places to see in TX, let me know!
Annush on the Causeway is going places. I hope you’ve liked me on Facebook and followed me on Twitter to keep up with my adventures 🙂
Thanks for reading!
