A Coke and a Smile!

I don’t know what is in a Diet Coke.  In fact, I don’t wanna know.  What I do know is that there are some days when a Diet Coke will fix just about anything and today is one of those days.

It’s still rainy out and as a result, my mood has taken a beating.  I really don’t like rain and this dampness is really getting old. Instead of feeling diligent and responsible by being at home working, I feel like I’m being held hostage. That’s no good.

But I am being productive at least and that makes me feel good.

Lately I’ve been dedicating a lot of my time to the Young Patronesses of the Opera annual gala, which is coming up.  What started as a little project to collect a few items for the silent auction, has become this community outreach operation that has led me into the exciting world of  fundraising and charitable gifts.  It’s actually pretty awesome because not only do I get to help, I also get the opportunity to learn about certain opportunities that I can then share with others.

photo838Like Give Miami Day, for example. According to The Miami Foundation, “Give Miami Day is a unique, 24 hour online giving event that allows individuals in our community an opportunity to build a greater Miami by making a charitable gift to a local nonprofit.”  This year, the deadline for non-profits to complete their application is November 3.   Do you have a Miami based nonprofit you’d like to register?  This is a great opportunity!

The bigger the team, the larger the donation.  Needless to say, this is not only an amazing team-building activity, it is also a great way to raise some money for your nonprofit of choice WITHOUT HAVING TO DUMP COLD WATER ON YOUR HEAD!  Everyone wins 🙂

Added bonus: You burn some calories.

Do you know of any cool ways nonprofits can raise some money? Sharing is caring!!
